This past week, I totally stepped over one of my own boundaries—and no one even asked me to. I was completely fried, craving rest, but the second I heard a friend was having a tough time (without them even asking for help), I snapped into full-on “my Sun is in Cancer” mode. I abandoned myself to show up for them.

Yep, even though I wasn’t invited to help, I rushed in anyway. Sound familiar?

As Venus moves into Cancer this week, it’s an excellent time to look at our boundaries—the ones we cross ourselves.

I’m Sheridan, your Astro Life Coach, and I guide women who feel stuck, overwhelmed and pushed to the brink by menopause to clean out the mental junk that holds you back from making real-life change, by harnessing the power of astrology and coaching to create real, aligned transformation.

Venus in Cancer: The Cosmic Invitation to Check Your Boundaries

Venus, our divine feminine planet, enters the sign of nurturing, emotionally-attuned Cancer on Wednesday. Cancer energy—like many of the cardinal and water signs—loves to give. These signs serve, help, and pour into others, sometimes without realizing they’ve emptied themselves in the process.

Here’s the truth about boundaries:
They’re not just about what others do to us. They’re about what we allow, and even more importantly, what we do to ourselves.

When I first started studying life coaching, this concept hit me like a lightning bolt:
If someone is crossing my boundaries, I’m the one letting them. I’m the one crossing them myself.

That story I opened with? Textbook example. No one asked for help. I leapt in because I’m wired to nurture (hello, Cancer stellium), and Jupiter is currently lighting up that part of my chart, making all of this… BIG. (Pro tip: Jupiter doesn’t always make things better—it makes them bigger.)

Boundary Violations Come With Receipts

By overriding my own need for rest, I ended up feeling resentful, frustrated, and snippy—toward someone who didn’t even ask me to show up for them. That emotional aftermath? That’s the check-engine light. It’s our soul saying: “Hey, something’s not right under the hood.”

And this is the lesson:
When we feel irritation, resentment, or exhaustion, it’s not someone else doing something to us. It’s often us abandoning ourselves.

Layered Astrology This Week: Venus in Cancer + Chiron Retrograde + Mercury Cazimi

The cosmos is giving us all the signs to slow down and tune in.

  • Venus enters Cancer — nurturing energy meets the need for emotional self-awareness

  • Chiron goes retrograde — our deepest wounds can surface, especially around “over-giving” as a survival tactic

  • Mercury meets the Sun (cazimi) — divine downloads and clarity about what we really need in terms of self-care and soul connection

Many of us learned early on that taking care of others was the way to stay safe. Maybe you learned not to rock the boat. Maybe you found comfort in controlling chaos around you by always being “the helper.” But now? That’s not serving you anymore. It’s draining you.

The Invitation This Week: Stop Saying Yes When You Mean No

So here’s the big question:
Where are you crossing your own boundaries?

Are you saying yes when you really want to say NO?
Are you ignoring your body’s cries for rest just to be there for everyone else?

This week is a cosmic invitation to STOP. To put your hand on your heart and ask:
What do I need?
And then—actually honor the answer.

Even one small act of self-care can shift everything.
