A solar eclipse, Aquarius new moon, Pisces season, and Venus returning to the evening sky
I’m writing a book. But lately, I’m not really writing a book. I’ve been lagging, focusing on other seemingly important, must-do stuff. I only have three chapters left. It seems like that would be motivation alone. Yet, I keep getting stuck, changing the chapters around in my mind, obsessed with perfection. If anyone should be so lucky just to get a book written. Perfectionism is an excuse I hold myself back with — perpetually. Any other Virgo moons out there?
This week offers an opportunity to not only face our lame excuses but do something about them.
Tomorrow brings the Aquarius new moon solar eclipse. Sadly, we can’t see the eclipse here. It’s an annular, “ring of fire” eclipse. The moon is farther away, too small to completely cover the sun, leaving a circle of flames around the moon. Tomorrow’s eclipse new moon marks the start of the fire horse year in Chinese astrology, too.
I’m not a Chinese astrologer, but AI said this about it online: “This year is characterized by intense energy, passion, and a push for rapid change and independence.” Goodness, aren’t we already there?
New moons are already super cool. They merge and amplify the energies of the sun and moon, but on eclipses their two paths directly cross over each other. The sun represents spirit, and the moon represents soul, so eclipses are these exceptional times when our souls’ paths cross with that of spirit’s (aka the universe, the goddess, the one, or god — if you gotta to flaunt your manhood).
Tomorrow’s eclipse new moon opens what’s known as the eclipse portal.
It remains active until the Virgo full moon, lunar eclipse on March 3. This one will be visible here (clouds not withstanding).
The eclipse window is an alchemical time for transformation. Our soul path aligns with spirit, amplifying our intentions toward what we really want to create. This new moon and the goals you set are supercharged.
What would you most like to create during this two-week period? What longings have you been putting on the back burner? What have you been yearning for but don’t give yourself the time or attention to do? Start there.
It’s only two weeks, so it’s not a “write my entire screenplay” amount of time, but it could be a make a start, outline your ideas, kind of time. What’s something you’ve been hearing the call for but keep ignoring? What are one or two tiny, baby steps you could take toward it, within this eclipse window?
The spirit of the sun is aligning exactly with the soul of your moon. Use it!
Aquarius, the sign of conscious awareness and ideas, flavors the new moon eclipse. A perfect energetic lineup to become more aware of your inner desires and feeble excuses. Especially because the very next day, the sun follows the moon into Pisces: the sign of dreaming, intuition, and spiritual connection. Nice vibes for an eclipse season transformation.
Pisces season encourages us to imagine what we want for our lives and inspires us to gently move in that direction. Pisces encourages us to be compassionate with ourselves — especially if our longing has been there for so long that we’ve started beating ourselves up for not beginning sooner. The timing is now. Limiting beliefs have hindered our ability to take action until now. That’s ok. Life’s a long journey.
With all the energy coming alive this week, you have an opportunity to take a small micro-action toward what you want. Feel what has been holding you back until now. Excuses like, “I can’t” really mean, “I’m resistant to,” so try exchanging those words and see what possibilities open for you. For example, I’m resistant to working on my book because I believe it must be perfect. Who’d write with that pressure? But saying I’m resistant opens the door to responsibility, instead of victimhood.
If all this isn’t enough, start looking for the rise of Venus into the western dusk sky, following the sunset. She’ll be hard to see initially with our mountainous horizons, but she’ll be close to the crescent moon on Wednesday night. If you can see the moon, have a little poke around for the faint “star” nearby. That’ll be Venus. If you aren’t blessed to see her on Wednesday, keep checking back. One evening soon, she’ll pop right out for you, and voila, Venus will be the evening star for the next eight months.
