Moon Mondays

Coming off the Solstice and the Cancer New Moon, I want to ask:
How are you doing with nurturing yourself?

Are you taking care of yourself as summer (for those of us in the northern hemisphere) ramps up—or winter if you’re in the southern hemisphere? Up here, it’s hot, it’s busy, and there’s so much happening. How are you holding up in the midst of it all?

This week’s Libra First Quarter Moon adds to the momentum. It’s all cardinal energy right now—and on top of that, Venus is changing signs and Neptune is stationing retrograde. (Yes, it’s not just Mercury that does that!)

I’m Sheridan, your astro life coach, here to guide you with woman-centered astrology so you can align with the cosmic rhythms and create a life of clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Tonight (Monday), if you can, step outside and look up, the Moon will be near Mars, which is close to Regulus, the heart of the Lion constellation. Mars is in Virgo right now, as is the Moon. There’s this sage-like, Druid, spiritual leader vibe in the air—Mars, our Divine Masculine, near the heart of the lion, the heart of self-love.

It all aligns beautifully with the cardinal energy in play—Cancer, now Libra. The waxing Libra Half Moon comes in on Wednesday.

This month’s moon phases are all in cardinal signs:

  • Cancer New Moon

  • Libra First Quarter

  • Capricorn Full Moon

  • Aries Last Quarter Moon

Cardinal signs are all about serving others. In the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School, I learned about them as serving the community. I simplify that to “serving others.” These signs focus on giving—whether to family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or the world around them.

But here’s the key: they can easily over-give.
They focus so much on others that they end up neglecting themselves. So this Cancer Moon month is a great time to ask:
How can I serve myself first?

As the saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup. When we overextend, we get snippy, irritated—even mean. We need to fill ourselves up first. It’s like they always say on airplanes: put on your own oxygen mask first.

So, how are you caring for yourself in this Cancer Moon cycle?

Now we move into Libra energy with this First Quarter Moon. Libra serves others too—but through personal, one-on-one relationships. As an Air sign, Libra wants to grow its understanding through connection. It’s focused on learning about itself through others—through mirrors and reflection.

The trick with Libra is not to get lost in comparison. It needs to find its inner center, its own sense of harmony, so it can sort through the projections. Libra has to learn:
“Oh, that’s not mine,” or,
“Yes, this is a true reflection of me—I feel this in my bones.”

We tend to envy qualities we see in others, thinking we don’t have them—but we do. If we see it, it exists in us somewhere. The invitation is to reclaim it and take action on making it our truth.

For me, with my South Node in Libra, I spent years worrying what others thought of me, constantly comparing myself. That’s my past—what I’m evolving from. But those qualities I admired in others? Eventually, I realized I had them too. And you know what helped? Menopause.

Menopause is like a filter remover. You stop caring so much what others think. If you’re not there yet, trust me—it’s coming. And when it does, you get to this place of:
“I don’t have time or energy to be anyone but me.”

That’s the kind of liberation that’s available in this Moon cycle. So notice: Are you giving so much that you’ve abandoned yourself? Time to return inward and refill your cup—so you can give from a place of wholeness.

Now, shifting energies…

This Friday, Venus enters Gemini and Neptune stations retrograde (in Mountain Time, at least). Venus, our Divine Feminine, is moving into a new slice of the zodiacal pie: Gemini.

Gemini is curious, mental, playful—it wants to learn and explore. You may feel your feminine expression become more curious too. Ask yourself:
What am I feeling curious about?

Let yourself follow it. Look at where Gemini sits in your chart—Venus will be activating that house, those planets, that area of life.

Neptune’s retrograde continues the big 2025–2026 Pisces–Aries transition. Neptune moved into Aries, but now retrogrades back into Pisces. It’s revisiting that liminal space where “I Am” meets the collective.

It’s another invitation inward: Neptune asks us to connect with ourselves through the heart—to go inward in order to expand outward. A perfect complement to this Cancer Moon month.
