The Heart of the Lion Meets the Virgo New Moon – Here’s Why It Matters
When I first learned that one of the four ancient royal stars—Regulus, the Heart of the Lion constellation—was my rising sign star, I was totally pumped. I mean, who wouldn’t be? It felt like the universe had stamped me with a cosmic seal of greatness.
It actually helped me lean into my Leo rising—even though, for my Cancer Sun, that was both scary and confusing. My Cancer side wanted to stay tucked away in my shell. But deep down? I secretly wanted the spotlight.
That’s the funny thing about our rising signs—modern astrology often describes them as what the world sees in us, our outer personality. But in reality, your rising sign is your soul path—the direction you’re meant to grow toward. It can feel intimidating, even impossible at first… but once you start moving toward it, something inside clicks.
My Cosmic Intersection
Over time, I embraced my Regulus rising—a star that was exactly conjunct my Ascendant at the moment I was born. It became the perfect intersection of my big three:
- Cancer Sun, Venus, and Mars (hello, stellium)
- Leo Rising
- Virgo Moon
You might be wondering: How does Regulus bridge Cancer, Leo, and Virgo? And why am I bringing this up now?
This Week’s Sky Is a Perfect Mirror
Here’s the cosmic setup:
- Wednesday morning: The waning crescent Moon meets Venus, moving us into the Solar Plexus Chakra Gate—a time to clear anything blocking your personal power.
- Friday: The Sun enters Virgo, and just hours later, the Virgo New Moon arrives—exactly aligned with Regulus.
When I was born, Regulus sat at 29° Leo. But thanks to Earth’s slow wobble, Regulus now sits at 0° Virgo—exactly where the Sun and Moon will meet this week.
Why This Virgo New Moon Is a Big Deal
This isn’t just another lunation. It’s a powerful blend of Leo’s self-love and Cancer’s unconditional love, now filtered through Virgo’s sacred service.
Virgo carries the Priestess energy—grounded, Earth-connected, and deeply spiritual. We’re all being invited to step into our own spiritual leadership, even if we’ve been stumbling without elders to guide us. Women especially are leading the charge in reclaiming this connection.
This week kicks off a potent cycle:
- Two Virgo New Moons (this one at the start of Virgo, another at the end)
- The coming Pisces Full Moon
- And the approach to eclipse season
The Invitation
With Regulus in the mix, this Virgo New Moon is about stepping into your heart-centered power and owning your light.
Ask yourself:
What’s one thing I can do this week to embody the power of my rising sign?
Maybe it’s showing up in a bigger way. Maybe it’s speaking your truth. Maybe it’s finally trusting that you belong in the spotlight of your own life.
