From Shock Therapy at 11 to Venus in Leo: Why Your Creativity Is About to Explode
When I was in middle school, I attended this hippie log cabin school outside of Aspen where we put on plays that were wildly inappropriate for our age. I’m talking A Streetcar Named Desire and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
I once played a nurse administering shock treatment to my friend Andy, who was cast as McMurphy—the same role Jack Nicholson played in the film. I was 11. Andy was 14.
But my big “breakthrough” role came in Bus Stop, where I played Cheri, the same character Marilyn Monroe portrayed in the movie. After a particularly challenging moment on stage where I was attacked, I suddenly “woke up” from dissociation to huge applause. In that moment, I thought—I definitely want to be an actress. You can imagine how much my Leo rising loved that clapping!
That dream may have faded, but my creative spark never did. And here’s the truth: we all carry that spark.
Creativity is part of the human spirit. It’s woven into who we are.
Venus in Leo: Your Creative Invitation
Today, as Venus enters Leo, that creative energy is amplified for all of us. Leo is about embracing our divine, creative nature—the part of us that knows we are souls inhabiting human bodies, designed to shape the world around and within us.
I always think of that Michelangelo painting where God’s finger almost touches Adam’s. That’s Leo energy—the fiery spark of creation.
Venus, our embodiment of feminine energy, grounds us into our bodies and reminds us to simply be.
As Venus moves through Leo, she’s inviting us to bask in the glow of our inner sun—to create, to enjoy life, to align with our soul selves. This is the generosity of Leo: overflowing self-love and radiant joy.
When Venus was in Cancer, we explored love as nourishment—filling ourselves up before pouring into others. Now, Venus in Leo says: enjoy your light. Doing only matters when it serves creation, joy, and soul alignment.
“But I’m Not Creative” (Yes, You Are)
Maybe you’re thinking, But Sheridan, I’m not creative.
I would argue otherwise.
Creativity isn’t just painting or writing—it’s everywhere:
- Cooking
- Problem-solving at work
- Parenting (the ultimate creative act!)
- Journaling
- Fashion and how you express yourself
- Mixology, sports, the way you move through the world
Even the way you serve a pickleball or put an outfit together is an act of creative expression. Trust me, if we sat down together, I’d easily be able to point out exactly where your Leo spark is shining.
So from now until Venus enters Virgo, you have an opportunity: embrace your creativity. Dust it off if it’s been hiding in the closet of your mind. Celebrate your inner artist, your inner Leo.
