Sometimes awareness comes in the form of something bugging the crap out of you until you’re finally motivated to do something about it. Other times, it’s more subtle — wow, I keep doing this thing I say I want to stop. Or, if I made this one slight adjustment, my life would flow a whole lot better.
Eclipses bring endings that make room for new beginnings. But here’s the rub: we have to do something with whatever we’ve realized.
Awareness on its own doesn’t do squat to change our lives. Eventually we must take what we’re learning out for a real-life spin. We can’t change diddly if we don’t do something new.
That’s where Mars and Saturn come in. This week, these two square each other, providing a motivating boost to act on your eclipse awakening. Pondering isn’t enough.
Mars is our “doing” energy — where the rubber meets the road. If we want to end up somewhere new, Mars insists we steer the car in a new direction. Saturn is the planet of concrete structure — the foundation our everyday lives are built upon. Saturn helps us stop just wishing for change and places us onto the road of real life.
Just before the eclipse portal closed, I completed my second year of advanced life coaching training. I’m so excited I snuck in under the rope. Talk about a major ending that opens new possibilities. I’m proud of myself. I feel like I just earned a master’s degree.
I’m also so ready to get all that time back in my schedule. One of the things I most want to do now is finish my astrology coaching book. So, Saturn tells me to add more writing time to my calendar and Mars directs me to sit my fanny in the chair and start typing.
These clear instructions are what Mars square Saturn offers us this week — because it’s scarily easy to have an epiphany and then let life keep slipping by.
We’re busy. Dinner needs making. Work needs doing, but the couch looks awfully inviting. It takes zero effort to simply skip the conversation we realized we needed to have during the eclipses. It’s way too comfy to plop down in front of a screen and numb out instead of following through on the promise we made to ourselves.
Once the heat of the moment passes, and change feels hard again, what felt so important can quietly fall by the wayside. If we want to end up somewhere different, we need to do things differently.
There’s no magic wand I can wave and — abracadabra — I’m on a book tour promoting my wildly successful book (insert smiley face emoji). I have to sit my rear at the desk and write the freakin’ thing. Then rewrite it, edit… and rewrite it some more. Then I’m one-tenth of the way there.
What’s your version of my book dream? What called out to you, over the last couple of weeks, during the eclipse window? What did you see about yourself, your relationships, your habits or your life that you don’t want to conveniently forget now that the portal has closed?
Most importantly: What’s one tiny, specific, Mars-inspired action you can take this week to put what you gleaned into motion — instead of letting it slide, yet again? Saturn says make it real and Mars says just do it.
If you need a little celestial inspiration, look for the waning moon aligning with Mars before sunrise on Sunday and next Monday mornings. Sometimes communing with the sky provides just the kick in the pants we need to actually do something about it.
