Venus represents the Sacred Feminine
For thousands of years Venus has been the symbol for the Divine Feminine principle. Both the planet and the Goddess. Our ancestors followed her path through the sky and revered her as the Goddess.
Venus teaches us about the Sacred Feminine within each one of us as well as around us in the world at large. We all feel the Feminine coming back online and connecting to Venus is a powerful way to help midwife the return of this powerful energy.
We call her the Goddess Venus now, but she was Aphrodite for the Greeks, and Isis for the Egyptians. She has gone by many incarnations, but she has always represented the Sacred Feminine expression. In fact, the first writings we have, on clay tablets from ancient Sumer, recount the path Venus takes through the sky every one and a half years.

This will be a ceremonial exploration of the Divine Feminine within and without, inside and outside, personally and archetypally, within and in the sky with Venus the planet, and on the earth with her plants and cycles. And, the moon!
Every 19-months Venus completes a cycle and begins again. We follow the Venus cycle through the morning and evening skies. Each month we travel through a chakra gate on our descent into the underworld, when Venus is hidden behind the Sun. We then ascend back through the chakras on our ascent back out of the underworld, reclaiming our rightful power and full expression of our authentic selves. This is a powerful ceremonial journey and provides a return, a remembering within our DNA of not only our indigenous ways but our true selves.
Each month the crescent moon and Venus come together and take us into the next chakra. We are following the first ever written myth, that really wasn’t a myth at all. It is a telling of the Venus cycle through the descent of Inanna the Queen of Heaven and Earth from ancient Sumer.
Venus, Inanna and the 7 Chakras
Venus will move through the seven chakras twice during the 19-month cycle. This allows each of us an opportunity to clear, become more conscious of, and ultimately empower the areas of our lives that each chakra governs. We move through one chakra per month when the Moon conjoins (gets close to) Venus. It’s a powerful sight to witness. This is an excellent time to do ceremony, creating intentions for what you wish to work on within each chakra and within your feminine expression. This is the new seed you’re planting based on the learning and compilation of the previous cycle. This is no one type of feminine, or one way to do the feminine, or only one type of feminine qualities. There are some general yin concepts, but there are twelve archetypes, with many layers within those twelve that help you discover your Soul’s feminine intent and your own unique expression of the feminine. We’re all denying that thought, so the work starts there, but through Shamanic Astrology you can look at your Venus sign to give you major clues on that expression. Your personal Venus archetype
The sign Venus was in at your birth, represents which aspect of the Divine Feminine you have come to learn about, embody, and help usher back into the world. Your sex makes no difference. We are all the union of the Feminine and the Masculine. We each have both within us. Venus and Mars are on all our charts, representing the Sacred Feminine and Sacred Masculine we are all discovering and empowering within and without.
Venus has a unique pattern through the sky, in that it repeats itself, in nearly the exact same manner, every 19-months. The cycle begins when Venus rises in the morning sky, ahead of the sunrise. This is happening in January! We begin a new 19-month Venus cycle in the New Year, January 14th to be exact (or thereabouts). Generally, we say Venus can first be seen, with our eyes, once she moves 10 degrees away from the Sun. Depending upon your location and horizon line, this can happen earlier or later.

Venus in Leo
Venus has already moved into Leo and will remain there until the new cycle begins. This Venus cycle will have the overtone of Leo for the entire 19-months. Our understanding of the Sacred Feminine will be evolving within the context of Leo. Leo represents the creative, sovereign, queen energy. She is filled with cosmic divinity, intuition and self-love. This new Venus cycle will be getting an infusion from the Leo Goddess who teaches us that our creativity, our inherent divine natures, and our radiant self love changes the world around us.
Connecting into the Venus Cycle
We are craving deeper connection to our ancestral ways of living in communion with the Earth. We want to feel ourselves purposefully living within the greater whole of life, understanding our place within it. Following the Venus cycle is an excellent place to start. It not only gets you outdoors to watch her move through the sky, but it also empowers you to connect more deeply to your own Venus expression, your internal Divine Feminine and find your place within the greater whole.
I encourage you to begin following the Venus cycle for yourself. Do ceremony. Get back in touch with your ancestral roots and connect to the brightest planet in our solar system. I promise your ancestors were doing this practice hundreds and thousands of years ago. It’s in your DNA, you just have to remember and reclaim it. We are all beings of the Earth and Sky. We are the union of the Feminine and the Masculine. Honoring the new Venus cycle will help to bring you one step closer to that union within.
